Faculty participation is vital when the university welcomes new students to campus during Opening Week. There will be more than 1,500 new students on campus for the 2016 Opening Week orientation. Interested faculty will eat lunch and meet with student mentor groups, each approximately 15-18 students, to discuss faculty expectations, classroom civility and any additional information they feel is important for incoming students. The goal is to encourage students to approach faculty during their careers and equip them with the tools necessary to succeed.
Faculty Interaction during Opening Week is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 16; Wednesday, Aug. 17; and Thursday, Aug. 18. Each day there are three time slots: 10:45-11:25 a.m., 11:40 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and 12:35-1:15 p.m. You may choose to participate in any and all time slots you are available.
If you are available to help out, please attend the faculty discussion/planning sessions scheduled for 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, in the Carver/Turner Room of the Havener Center. Interested faculty should contact Kayla Klossner-Thompson, 341-4996, with their availability.
