Westenberg writes for special edition of microbiology education journal

Dr. Dave Westenberg, associate professor of biological sciences, has contributed to the scientific citizenship-themed issue (Vol 17, Issue 1) of the American Society for Microbiology’s Journal of Microbiology & Biology Education (JMBE). His article is titled “The Engaged Microbiologist: Bringing the Microbiological Sciences to the K–12 Community.”
This inaugural standalone issue is filled with essays on the current state of citizen science, lessons on how to engage and train citizen scientists, how-to articles on authentic research experiences and public outreach activities, curricular and nontraditional approaches to engaging citizens in science, detailed outcomes of popular citizen science activities, and reviews of citizen science resources.
