Hispanic Film Series continues with ‘Mr. Kaplan’

The S&T Hispanic Film Series will screen “Mr. Kaplan,” a Spanish comedy with English subtitles, at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, in Room 104 Physics Building. This is a free event, and is open to the public.
Mr. Kaplan was Uruguay’s official selection for Best Foreign Academy Award. The film tells the story of Jacob Kaplan, who like many others of Jewish ancestry, fled Europe for South America during World War II. Turning 76, he’s troubled and angered with his community’s lack of interest in its own heritage. A beach bar may, however, provide him an unexpected opportunity to achieve greatness: bringing a runaway Nazi to justice.
