Dr. Natalie Pang, an assistant professor in the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University and assistant director of Singapore Internet Research Centre, will present “Bowling Alone or Together? A Meta-review and a Case Study of Social Media Use” 10-11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in Room 104 Humanities and Social Sciences Building. Pang will answer the question “How can we connect the use of social media to behaviors in ‘real-life?’” The first portion of the seminar will include findings of two meta and systemic reviews of empirical studies of social media across two disciplines, with the aim of providing robust conclusions about social media studies. The second will discuss a Singapore-based study of social media use and its role in mediating and shaping participation in a protest against a population policy in Singapore.
