Dr. Lance Haynes, chair of arts, languages, and philosophy since 2010, will step down from that role effective Jan. 1, 2016. He will remain on the faculty in a teaching and research capacity and will continue to coordinate the multidisciplinary studies program. Haynes, who is also a professor of speech and media studies, joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 1984. “I’ve enjoyed serving as chair but I’m looking forward to reinventing myself as a professor once again,” Haynes says.

Dr. Stephen Roberts, vice provost and dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business, will appoint an interim chair to serve during the Spring 2016 semester while a search is under way for a new chair. “I would like to recognize and thank Dr. Haynes for his many years of service as chair of the department of arts, languages, and philosophy,” says Roberts. “I wish him well in his continued role at the university.”
