Missouri S&T is building a second solar village on 10th Street between Allgood Bailey Stadium and Innovation Park and it needs a name. The office of sustainable energy and environmental engagement (OSE3) invites faculty, staff, students and members of the community to submit suggestions for the name by email to Tony Arnold at arnoldab@mst.edu.

The contest will be open through Saturday, Sept. 26. All entries will be reviewed by the Strategic Sustainability Planning Committee and a winner will be chosen by mid-October.

The site, which will house the Solar House Team’s 2013 Chameleon Home and the 2015 Nest Home, will be a working model of the Smart Living signature area, the Environmental Research Center and the Energy Research and Development Center. The site will help researchers and students understand how people and technology interact. It will feature intelligently managed power generation, storage and distribution on a megawatt scale; sustainable design with water retention, gray water usage, permeable pavers, indigenous plants, composting, recycling and community gardens.
