The City of Rolla parking department wants to remind the campus community of city policies related to riding bicycles on the sidewalks of downtown. The following city ordinances should be practiced for law abidance and safety:
Sec. 27-15. Bicycles; skateboards; roller blades; roller skates.
(a) Every person riding a bicycle upon a roadway shall be granted all the rights and shall be subject to all of the duties applicable to the driver of a vehicle by the laws of the state declaring rules of the road applicable to vehicles or by traffic ordinances of this city applicable to the driver of a vehicle, except as to special regulations in this Article and except as to those provisions of laws or ordinances which by their nature can have no application.
(b) No person shall operate a bicycle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions then existing.
(c) No person shall ride a bicycle, a skateboard, roller blades, roller skates, or other type of wheeled vehicle upon a sidewalk within a business district. (Ord. 3194, §1)
(d) Whenever a person is riding a bicycle upon a sidewalk, such person shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian and shall give audible signal before overtaking and passing such pedestrian. (Ord. 1836, §6.)
