Healthy for Life is sponsoring 15-minute chair massages for employees. Massages will be offered 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesdays between July 1 and Aug. 5 in Room 204 Centennial Hall. The cost is $15 for 15 minutes. To register for a massage, email Amanda Hunter-Kelley or call 466-9084. Registration is required and a minimum of 10 people must be registered for the date.
Research shows the positive effects of massage therapy on job performance and mental alertness resulting in improved accuracy and reduced stress-induced illnesses. Anyone who has ever sat behind a desk all day will recognize the symptoms of workplace fatigue. Sitting in a massage chair opens up the back muscles, relieves strain on the neck and provides a gentle break for eyes usually glued to a computer monitor. Even 15 minutes of massage to the neck, back, arms and hands can increase circulation, returning energy levels and helping keep the body injury free.
