Faculty participation is vital when the university welcomes new students to campus in August. There will be more than 1,400 new students on campus for the 2015 Opening Week Orientation. Interested faculty will meet and have lunch with student mentor groups, each approximately 17 students, and discuss faculty expectations and classroom respect. The goal of this activity is to facilitate a positive interaction between new students and faculty. This is your chance to give new students tips on how to be successful in the classroom. The faculty interaction with new students will be Tuesday, Aug. 18, through Thursday, Aug. 20.
Faculty can meet with one group or several groups during the following time slots: 10:45-11:25 a.m., 11:40 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 12:35-1:15 p.m. Faculty may choose to participate for one day or all of the days, and for one or all time slots.
If you agree to participate, new student programs asks that you attend the faculty discussion and planning session at 1:30-12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, in the Carver/Turner Room of the Havener Center. To participate, contact Patty Frisbee at 341-7045.
