The Missouri S&T Hispanic Film Festival presents “La Demora,” (The Delay) at 7 p.m. Friday, April 24, in Room 138 Castleman Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The film follows María, who lives with her three kids and 80-year-old father, Agustín. She struggles to make ends meet and juggle all of her obligations. Agustín has periods of lucidity, but his mental deterioration is such that María explores different possibilities and then, out of options, she makes a drastic decision.
For more information about the film or the series, contact Dr. Jorge Porcel, assistant professor of Spanish at Missouri S&T.
The Missouri S&T Hispanic Film Festival has been made possible through a grant awarded to Porcel by PRAGDA and Spain Arts & Culture, institutions engaged in the promotion of Spanish language and culture. The funds awarded by this grant have been match by the generous support of Dr. Stephen Roberts, vice provost and dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business; Dr. William Schonberg, chair and professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering; and Dr. Lance Haynes, chair and professor of arts, languages, and philosophy.
