Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader and Dr. Robert Marley, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, plan to attend an upcoming public forum to discuss potential job cuts at Fort Leonard Wood and encourage the campus community to join them. The forum will be held Monday, March 2, at Fort Leonard Wood’s Nutter Field House. USA Tours has donated a bus to take campus members to the forum. The bus will leave the Rolla Area Chamber of Commerce office at 4:15 p.m. that Monday. The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. U.S. Sens. Claire McCaskill and Roy Blunt will each speak, as will state Rep. Vicky Hartzler, state Sen. Dan Brown and state Rep. Steve Lynch.

“This is really a big deal. The Army is considering a 40 percent reduction of its assigned uniformed and government civilians,” says Steve Tupper, the campus liaison to the fort. “The economic, education and research outfall of that will significantly affect the campus.” Tupper encourages campus community members to join the chancellor and provost for the forum.
