Dr. Robert Marley, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs, has created a new half-time appointment, titled special assistant to the provost for faculty affairs. Dr. Melanie Mormile, professor of biological sciences, has been named to this role effective Feb. 9, 2015.
“Dr. Mormile has the perfect combination of campuswide and system-wide experience, as well as a strong vision for faculty support. I am very excited to have her join our office in this new role,” says Marley.
In this new role, Mormile will assist the provost with issues such as faculty awards, workload development, promotion and tenure matters, and a variety of other issues related to faculty affairs. She will continue to teach a mixture of graduate and undergraduate courses as well as continue working on her research.
