The University of Missouri System provides two types of insurance coverage for faculty and staff who travel internationally for university purposes. This insurance coverage is provided at no cost to the traveler or university department. AIG coverage includes travel accident and sickness benefits. MedEx coverage includes evacuation and transportation services. MedEx also provides an online location for travelers to store electronic medical information, copy of passport, travel schedule and more. Faculty and staff planning to travel internationally should contact Amy Smith in international and cultural affairs at 341-6875 to receive details of the coverage, identification card and emergency contact information.

All faculty and staff traveling internationally are also strongly encouraged to register in the U.S. Department of State’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) prior to each trip. Enrollment in the STEP program provides travelers the most current information about the country where they will be traveling, updates including travel warnings and travel alerts, and resources should they need assistance during their travels.
