Did you know that as faculty and staff, you can report student career outcomes to career opportunities and employer relations (COER)? If you have information on where a student is going after graduation, you can report that to COER. To report student career outcomes, contact COER by calling 341-4343 or emailing career@mst.edu.
The career outcomes survey is not just a COER issue, it’s a campus issue. Helping students find opportunities and creating a path for successful outcomes is not just a COER goal. Higher education is a partnership of many units working collaboratively to ensure retention, steer students towards success and capture every student’s career outcome. Students share career outcome information with professors, academic advisers, student financial services representatives, leaders of student organizations and other university staff. These sources are vital in the data collection process and can be included in the Missouri S&T dataset.
The Missouri S&T knowledge rate (the percentage of students we have career outcome information on) was 75 percent last year, up from 50 percent the previous year. Reporting career outcomes helps the university, individual academic departments, inform student salary negotiations and makes Missouri S&T degrees more valuable.
