The Center for Infrastructure Engineering Studies (CIES) invites the campus community to attend a distinguished lecture at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in Room 140 Toomey Hall. The lecture, titled “Advances in concrete science in the last 50 years,” will be given by Dr. Surendra P. Shah, the Walter P. Murphy Professor emeritus of civil engineering at Northwestern University.
Shah was the founding director of the National Science Foundation’s Science and Technology Center for Advanced Cement-Based Materials. Shah is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Indian Academy of Engineering.
