The psychological science department will host three seminars and a meet-and-greet this September to educate the campus and local community about the department’s new master’s degree in industrial-organizational (IO) psychology. The following events are free and open to the public:
— Dr. Betsy Shoenfelt will host “Leadership Development in Army ROTC Cadets” 1-1:50 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, in the Meramec Room of the Havener Center. Shoenfelt is a professor of psychological sciences at Western Kentucky University, a licensed IO psychologist and a certified consultant for the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
— Dr. Laura Ford will host “Educational Assessment” 1-1:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, in the Meramec Room of the Havener Center. Ford, who earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Missouri S&T, is program manager of assessment research and analysis at HumRRO (Human Resources Research Organization).
— A social gathering will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, in the Meramec Room of the Havener Center. Attendees can meet Ford and Shoenfelt, network and discuss research ideas.
— Ford and Shoenfelt will host “Industrial-Organizational Psychology: Application and Impact” 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, in Room 121 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. The presentation will give an overview of what IO psychology is and highlight both psychologists’ research and consulting projects.
