The Missouri S&T faculty, staff and friends golf league will begin play at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Miners’ Golf Course. The league welcomes players of all abilities from beginners to experienced. The tournament is a scramble format, which makes it easier for beginning golfers and players with limited skills to enjoy the game. The league will play every Tuesday for eight weeks, with makeup games for rainouts held the following Thursday. There will be a couple of changes for the fall 2014 league:

First, membership in the league has been opened up to include “friends.” Anyone can play in the league, whether they are faculty, staff, student or community member. Feel free to invite friends.

Second, is the addition of an automatic two-putt rule – once on the green each person will putt once and if no one individual makes the putt the team will pick up the ball, take the additional stroke and go on to the next hole.

The cost to participate is $20 for those who have a season pass at the course and $60 for all others. If you would like to play in the league, email Matt Mick or call the golf course clubhouse between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at 341-4217 with the following information:

  • Your average score for the nine holes on the Miners’ Golf Course
  • Your average score for hole number six
  • Which tee you’ll use (women play red tees, men under 65 play white tees, men 65 or older play yellow tees and men over 80 can also choose to play from the red tees)

For more information, visit golf.mst.edu/golfleagues. Don’t want to commit, but still want to play? Sign up as a substitute player. There is no cost to participate as a substitute.
