Dr. Diana Ahmad, associate professor of history and political science, presented a paper during the 2014 Society for Historians of the Early American Republic conference as part of a panel titled “Drugs, Alcohol, and Gendered and Racial Experiences of Addiction.” That panel discussion will air at 1:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, on C-SPAN 3. Although the channel is not available through Rolla’s cable providers, the program will be live-streamed at c-span.org.
Ahmad’s paper, titled “Harlots, Innocents, and Opium Dens: The Politics of Smoking-Opium and the Chinese in the Mid-Nineteenth Century,” is the final presentation.
