Passing of Dr. Norman Smith

Dr. Norman Smith, professor emeritus of mining engineering at Missouri S&T, died Monday, May 26. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Eagle River, Wis. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
Dr. Smith earned his Ph.D. in mining engineering from Missouri S&T in 1976. He started teaching at Missouri S&T that same year as an assistant professor. Dr. Smith retired as a professor of mining engineering in 1994.
