The Extraordinary Student Leader Award is presented to a graduating senior who, through a variety of leadership roles, has substantially impacted the campus and is deserving of recognition for their contributions to campus during their time at Missouri S&T. Nominate students online; nominations close at 5 p.m. Friday, April 25. The award will be presented at the annual Student Leaders’ Reception at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, in St. Pat’s Ballroom C of the Havener Center. For more information, email stuaff@mst.edu.
Since 1995, the outstanding men and women who have received this award include student body presidents, student curators, Greek and residence hall leaders, and others who were active in the life of the campus. Nominations and recommendations for the Extraordinary Student Leader Award are screened by a group of current student leaders in collaboration with Dr. Debra Robinson, vice chancellor for student affairs.
The group reviews a variety of criteria, such as time and effort outside of their established leadership role, overall impact on students, variety of positions and organizations, motivation and drive, as well as the legacy left to the students. An extraordinary student leader exemplifies a strong commitment to community development, academic success and cultural awareness. It is not a requirement that the award be presented every year.
