University Police, City of Rolla Fire and Rescue and S&T residential life staff conducted an unannounced fire drill in Thomas Jefferson Residence Hall, the Residential College facilities, the Quadrangle Residence Halls and the five Miner Village buildings on Oct. 16-17. The tests, which began at 7 p.m. and ended at 8 p.m., were designed to help students learn how to safely exit residence halls in case of emergency and to know where to congregate.
This annual exercise is a requirement of the Clery Act, which requires every Title IV institution, without exception, to have and disclose emergency response and evacuation procedures in response to a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees occurring on the campus.
