The Student Union Board (SUB) is in search of faculty and staff judges to assist with this year’s Homecoming events. Serving as a judge is a great way to interact with students, support organizations and participate in S&T’s Homecoming tradition. Below is a list of activities; four judges are needed for each event. If you’d like more information about this year’s student-led homecoming activities email Jackie Model at jmmnv9@mst.edu. Please respond to Jackie directly. Thank you in advance for your support.

-Candidate interviews: 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in St. Pat’s Ballroom C.

(Dinner for judges provided at 5:30 p.m.)

-Super Miner banners: Judging will take place on your own time in the Havener Center atrium. Scoring rubrics need to be completed between Monday, Oct. 14, and Friday, Oct. 18.

-Court skits: noon, Tuesday, Oct. 15, on the Havener Center lawn. Lunch is provided for judges. King and queen nominees will attend Court. Participating organizations will dress up and perform for the entertainment of the court for a minimum of two minutes. Judging will be based on quality, creativity, costumes and acting.

-Contests: noon, Wednesday, Oct. 16, on the Havener Center lawn.

  • Superhero Costume Contest: participants will showcase their best superhero costume or villain attire.
  • Phone Booth Changing Contest: participants will race into a phone booth filled with various superhero clothing apparel. Judging will be based on how well they resemble a superhero and how many items they are wearing.

-Yard displays: 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. Homecoming yard displays should exhibit a lair fit for a Super Miner. Judges will critique the following: quality, size and creativity. Creation of skits that pertain to the yard displays is optional for students.
