Union Pacific to sponsor 2013 Project X

The new student programs department is pleased to announce that Union Pacific will sponsor the 2013 Opening Week Project X, the new students design project. Union Pacific will have representatives on the S&T campus to assist our new-students with programs and judge their projects. More than 1,200 new students will attend Opening Week, which starts Saturday, Aug. 10. New students will be divided into 70 mentor groups and will have the opportunity to create a vehicle that will be judged on design, creativity, presentation and a journal. The week will end with a team competition race through campus. The races will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Puck and finish at the Havener Center. An awards ceremony recognizing the top teams will be held at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, in the Havener Center. For more information or to volunteer during the race, contact Patty Frisbee at 341-7045.
