New Chartwells Catering director

Chartwells Catering announces the appointment of Lydia Sumner as catering director at Missouri S&T. She comes to Missouri S&T after serving as marketing director and retail director at Southeast Missouri State University.

Sumner has more than 18 years of experience in the food service industry and is certified by the National Restaurant Association as a food management professional (FMP). She is also certified by the NRAEF as a ServSafe Instructor and Proctor. Sumner earned a bachelor of science degree in marketing and a master of business administration in management from Southeast Missouri State University.

Her husband, Trevor Sumner, of Sullivan, Mo., will also join Chartwells as the retail director. The couple was married in 2010 and both are self-professed “foodies” who love to eat. The Sumners have plans to one day eat in each of the 48 contiguous states and find the best tiramisu. They have a 1-year-old son named Benjamin.

Sumner is excited about Rolla and taking catering at Missouri S&T to the next level. “I love what I do because food is integral to life and is very personal. It’s not just about the food; it’s the entire experience that makes memories.”
