McManus to appear on C-SPAN

Dr. John C. McManus, professor of history and political science at Missouri S&T, will discuss the relationship between poverty and military enlistment in World War II as part of a panel discussion on poverty in American at The National Archives at St. Louis today (Wednesday, May 29). C-SPAN will cover the panel discussion and air it at a later date on American History TV, which is on C-SPAN3.

The discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room Auditorium of the National Archives, located at 1 Archives Drive off of Dunn Road in St. Louis County. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested by emailing stlpublic.programs@nara.gov. Include the word “lecture” in the subject line.

Other panelists include historians from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Washington University in  St. Louis and Saint Louis University. The panel discussion is in conjunction with a National Archives exhibit titled “Through America’s Lens: Focusing on the Greatest Generation, 1920-1945.” The exhibit, which runs through Sept. 27, is free and open to the public.
