Faculty and students are invited to attend two presentations by Dr. Ian Sloan, a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and a professor at the School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of New South Wales:
“Imagining and Calculating in Many Dimensions” is geared toward a general audience and will be held from 4:15-5:15 p.m. Monday, March 4, in Room G5 Humanities and Social Sciences Building. Refreshments will be served at 4 p.m.
“Lifting the Curse of Dimensionality: Numerical Integration in Very High Dimensions” will be held from 4:15-5:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, in Room 120 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Refreshments will be served at 4 p.m.
Sloan’s visit and talks are being presented as part of Missouri S&T mathematics and statistics department’s Ingram Lecture Series.
