Faculty members are encouraged to enroll for the Accent Modification Program. AMP classes are designed to advance cultural diversity and understanding by improving overall communication between students and faculty, increasing active participation in campus dialogue and promoting confident communication. Classes are conducted on an individual basis for a 13-week period by Vicki Hopgood, speech/language pathologist. A broad range of topics are covered including listening skills, public speaking, American intonation, pronunciation of difficult English vowels and consonants, classroom management and effective email communication.
There is no charge for this service.
Interested ranked, tenured or tenure-track faculty should obtain a referral from their department chair and enroll directly with Hopgood at hopgoodv@mst.edu.
