The campus community is invited to attend an open forum from noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center. Mackey Mitchell Architects is conducting a program study to explore the resources, services, space needs and site considerations of the Havener Center.
The Havener Center will soon enter its seventh year of operation. In order to ensure the facility is meeting the needs of the campus and fulfilling its vision as a student-centered facility, the firm will examine current program needs and will create plans for improvements to prepare the facility and operations for the next five years.
When the Havener Center opened in 2005, the S&T’s enrollment was 5,100 students. This fall on-campus enrollment is 6,760. Patronage of the Havener Center has increased accordingly, with dining services exceeding designed capacity and the number of events taking place in the facility exceeding 5,000 in 2010. Information from this open forum will be used to assist in programming the facility for the increased usage.
