Civil engineering professor to discuss bridge design code

Dr. Andrzej Nowak, the Robert W. Brightfelt Professor of Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and world-renowned expert in the field of bridge engineering, will discuss the development of advanced design codes for bridges at noon Monday, Nov. 5, in Room 120 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. The event is free and open to the public.


Nowak’s presentation will focus on calibration processes with the objective of determining load and resistance factors for upcoming modifications to design procedures used by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
