A retirement reception for Dr. Ken Ragsdell, who retired from Missouri S&T’s engineering management and systems engineering department on Sept. 1, will be held from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, on the second floor mezzanine area of the Engineering Management Building. The campus community is invited to attend.
Ragsdell earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from S&T and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. He worked for years in the engineering and auto industries and has consulted for many major companies. He has received numerous awards and honors, and has authored or co-authored a number of publications. Ragsdell joined the University of Missouri-Columbia faculty as chair of mechanical and aerospace engineering in July 1984. He came to Rolla as associate vice chancellor for academic extension in July 1989, and returned to full-time teaching and research in 1992. Ragsdell is also a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and a senior fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
