Stanley Pearson will give an interactive presentation titled “Beyond the Curriculum … What You Think and Never Say: Five Keys that Could Keep You and Your Students from Succeeding,” from noon to 12:50 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 5, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center.

Pearson says instructors have a wealth of knowledge that can enlighten students and prepare them for their careers; however if students’ minds and ears are not open, instructors will be ineffective. The presentation will explore barriers that affect instructors’ impact. He will explore topics like race, religion, socio-economic background, disabilities and sexual orientation.
Pearson is endorsed as a diversity educator by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), was selected as Speaker of the Year by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities and was nominated for Campus Activities Magazine Diversity Artist of the Year.
The presentation is sponsored by leadership and cultural programs with support from a Missouri Arts Council grant. Email Jerri Arnold-Cook for more information.
