‘Secure in place’: What does it mean?

If the university should experience an emergency situation, you may receive phone, text and email notifications that tell you to “secure in place.” This means you should seek immediate shelter and stay there, or if you have shelter, you should stay where you are. If you can, turn off the lights, close the blinds, stay away from doors and windows, and lock interior doors. You should stay there until an all clear has been issued. Updates will be posted at alert.mst.edu as they become available. Learn more about the mass notification system at S&T.
