Diabetes self-management course begins in January

A diabetes self-management course, “Eat Well, Be Well with Diabetes,” will be offered from 5-7 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 10-31, 2012, in Room 206 Centennial Hall. The four-session program is open to any faculty, staff, friends and family members with Type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes, or who want to know more about Type 2 diabetes. The cost is $25 and space is limited. Registration deadline is Thursday, Jan. 5. “Eat Well, Be Well with Diabetes” teaches participants the basics of managing blood sugar, how to understand food labels and make healthier dietary choices, meal planning using the “plate method” and carbohydrate counting, as well as many other aspects of diabetes self-care. Each session will include sampling easy, healthy recipes.
