Due to fiscal considerations arising from the addition of Illinois to the Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP), Missouri S&T is discontinuing its participation in the MSEP and is instituting the Gateway Scholarship Program. This program will be in effect for new students entering S&T for the summer and fall 2012 terms. Current students who receive the MSEP discount on out-of-state tuition will be grandfathered in.
The Gateway program was implemented to provide similar assistance to students who live in previously eligible MSEP member states. These states include Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and North Dakota.
The large number of students from Illinois who attend Missouri S&T has resulted in a shift in tuition revenue. This shift has made it impossible for S&T to both continue membership in the program and offer the same level of quality instruction and benefits students expect. As it has in the past, S&T will continue to offer Illinois students who meet the criteria scholarships, making the cost of attendance at S&T competitive with Illinois institutions of comparable quality.
