As a 20-year-old NASA satellite prepares to return to Earth and scatter space debris over a wide area, Missouri S&T’s space debris expert, Dr. William Schonberg, will discuss his research on the topic during a seminar at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center. Schonberg is chair of civil, architectural and environmental engineering at S&T and is part of a National Research Council panel that studies the impact of space debris. His presentation — titled “Heavens! What a Mess!” — is sponsored by the mechanical and aerospace engineering department. It is open to the public and the campus community is encouraged to attend.
