Information technology’s research support services (IT RSS) will host the first ever “S&T Research Computing Day, Powered by Dell,” from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center. There is no charge for the event. All graduate students, faculty and staff (from S&T and other institutions) interested in learning about research computing activities at S&T are welcome to attend. Register online to ensure sufficient space is available.
The day will feature presentations and Q&A sessions with research computing experts from Dell and presentations by S&T campus researchers illustrating how effective use of numerically-intensive computing technology has advanced their research.
This event is designed to encourage open dialogue between collaborating research efforts, other academic institutions, S&T researchers, IT RSS and the technical resources at Dell to foster development of technology solutions that allow researchers to increase efficiency, competitiveness and effectiveness in their fields.
Presentations and Q&A sessions will focus on cluster computing, high speed storage, Infiniband and GPU (graphics processing unit) computing and will offer an opportunity for one-on-one and small-group Q&A. Morning technical sessions will repeat in the afternoon.
In addition, a limited number of attendees may register for Rocks Roll packaging training on the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 19. There is a modest cost to cover expenses for this training and seating is limited to 10 persons.
Registration, information, schedules and speaker biographies may be found online. For more information, email researchcomputing@mst.edu.
