Opening Week Orientation is a week filled with fun activities and academic jump starts for more than 1,100 new freshmen. From convocation on Monday, Aug. 15, to the wacky Project X competition on Friday, Aug. 19, the entire Missouri S&T campus community’s participation sends a strong message of caring to the students and encourages their success.
“New Student Move-In” kicks things off on Saturday, Aug. 13, followed by a full schedule of events through Saturday, Aug. 20, including academic workshops, opportunities to learn about campus and college life, and the team design competition: Project X.
Be sure to attend New Student Convocation, the official Missouri S&T welcome, at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, in the Student Rec Center in the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building, and cheer your favorite teams in the Project X competition. If there’s no time to watch the races, you can check out the vehicles on display in the Havener Center following the competition.
Evening activities for the new students will include a welcome picnic, comedian, Vegas night, ice-cream social, outdoor movie, free concert and more.
A complete schedule of Opening Week activities is available online. For more information or a detailed schedule of events, contact new student programs in Room 106 Centennial Hall, 573-341-7045 or email pfrisbee@mst.edu.
