A paper written by a Missouri S&T grad student, alumnus and two professors received the Best Paper Award in IEEE Green Technologies Conference 2011 in Baton Rouge, La., in April. The paper, “Design Feasibility of a Vortex Induced Vibration-Based Hydro-Kinetic Energy-Harvesting System,” was written by Varun Lobo, a graduate student in mechanical engineering; Nyuykighan Mainsah, who earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 2008; Dr. Arindam Banerjee, assistant professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering; and Dr. Jonathan Kimball, assistant professor in electrical and computer engineering.
