Retain, don’t purge files! (… but recycle when you can)

University Archives reminds all departments to follow the 2011 Retention Guide when going through old files. Many documents must be preserved for legal, administrative and historical purposes. Call S&T Archives for a paper retention guide at 341- 6954 or go online.
When you’ve determined what is safe to recycle, be sure to remove plastic overhead projector sheets, alligator clips, ring binders and plastic spirals. It only takes a few extra minutes, but your efforts will ensure that valuable paper is recycled instead of landfilled. Any ideas, comments or questions may be submitted online at green.mst.edu.
Last year, 288 tons of paper and cardboard were collected for recycling from the Missouri S&T campus. RecycleMania is right around the corner, so stay tuned for new ways to get involved.
