Opening Week Orientation is full of academics, activities and fun. The week begins with more than 1,100 new freshmen participating in the “New Student Move-In” on Saturday, Aug. 14, and continues through Saturday, Aug. 21.

Throughout the week, students complete an academic workshop, learn about campus and college life and participate in Project X, a team design project. Everyone is invited to cheer for their favorite teams at the Project X competition, which begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, at the Puck. Project X vehicles will be on display in the Havener Center following the competition that day.
The schedule includes many evening activities, including a welcome picnic, comedian, recreation, Vegas night, ice-cream social, outdoor movie and more.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend all Opening Week events to help welcome new students to campus. One event not to miss is the New Student Convocation, the official Missouri S&T welcome, at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 16, in the Student Recreation Center in Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building.
Campus participation in Opening Week sends a strong message of caring and encourages success for our new students. A schedule of Opening Week activities is available online at pro.mst.edu. If you have any questions or would like a detailed schedule of events, contact new student programs, Room 106 Centennial Hall, 341-7045 or pfrisbee@mst.edu.
