Over the next eight months, staff in various offices will work to upgrade our student information system, Joe’SS, from PeopleSoft version 8.9 to 9.0. This UM systemwide project began in February and has a projected go-live date of Jan. 3, 2011.
The upgrade will provide enhanced features to the system currently used by faculty, staff and students to access and manage student information. Most noticeable will be the change in the navigation, which will move from a left side menu to a top-down vertically aligned structure. The new menu will be similar to a “breadcrumb” format used by many current web applications. Overall, this upgrade will have minimal effect on existing screens and current processes will remain essentially the same.
In addition to the version upgrade, Enterprise Applications Services in Columbia has planned hardware improvements to increase load capacity and processing speed. Additional information is available online. Questions may be directed to Laura Stoll, registrar and PeopleSoft student system project manager.
