Microscopy society to hold fall meeting on campus

The Central States Microscopy and Microanalysis Society (CSMMS) will hold its fall meeting Nov. 9-10 at the Havener Center. Clarissa Wisner, SEM specialist in the Materials Research Center, is the society’s president. The meeting is open to the campus and to the general public. CSMMS is dedicated to the promotion of both microscopy and microanalysis in the scientific research community.


The theme for the meeting is the “History of Microscopy.” The afternoon of Monday, Nov. 9, will be filled with lab tours and demonstrations at S&T. The main meeting will be from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10.
Abstracts for presentations and poster sessions are currently being accepted. There is a student presentation competition with the first place prize of $200, a second place prize of $100, and a third place prize of $50.00. Posters will be judged in five categories: chemistry/materials, geology, biology, best use of microscopy and other. Each category winner will win $50.
