Gov. Jay Nixon announced that all flags at state facilities will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, Sept. 8, to honor the memory of Sgt. 1st Class Ronald W. Sawyer, who died while serving his country in Afghanistan.
Senate Bill 806 was signed into law in 2008 requiring flags to be flown at half-staff for one day whenever a Missourian is killed in the line of duty during military service.
