The Board of Curators has approved a change to the listing of directory information under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The student information items “date and place of birth” and “weight and height of members of athletic teams” have been removed as directory information. See the wording change below:
UM CRR 180.020, paragraph B.3 defines student directory information/public information as “…a student’s name, address, e-mail address, telephone listing, date and place of birth, major field of study, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of members of athletic teams, dates of attendance, degrees and awards received, the most recent previous educational agenda or institution attended by the student, student level, and full- or part-time status.”
The registrar’s office is changing the listing of directory information online, on the FERPA screens in Joe’SS, and in printed material. If you have any questions please contact the registrar’s office at registrar@mst.edu.
