Dr. Peter Pabisch, professor emeritus of languages and linguistics at the University of New Mexico, will lead a discussion on the ways that foreign language instruction opens doors for students; particularly the value of foreign language education in an increasingly globalized technological environment. The lecture will be held at 3 p.m. today, Thursday, April 16, at the Southwestern Bell Cultural Center, 1207 N. Elm St. This event is free and open to the public.
Pabisch is the former co-director of the Goethe Institute-sponsored German Summer School, author of several books and an accomplished scholar. He is the director of the Atlantic Bridge Over the Camino Real. In 2005, Pabisch won the Outstanding German Educator Award and Checkpoint Charlie Foundation Scholarship from the National American Association of Teachers of German.
The program is hosted by the intensive English program, a part of the office of international affairs.
