Custodial and landscape services is making strides in going green. Sixty percent of its core cleaning products are Green Seal approved and the remaining 40 percent are environmentally preferred. None of these products require special waste disposal. The department utilizes chemical dispensing systems, reducing product waste and water usage, and reusable microfiber wipes and mop products. Microfiber products capture more soil with less chemical usage.

Custodial and landscape services will purchase high-performance mat systems that capture more soil, thus requiring less floor cleaning. The department also has invested in high-performance cleaning equipment that utilizes variable-speed pumps that reduce water usage.

In the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building, high-capacity towel and toilet tissue dispensers have been installed, which reduce waste because they allow all of the product to be used. These products are Green Seal Certified, not just EPA registered for recycled content.

Custodial and landscape services is making a difference. Let the campus know what your department is doing to positively impact our environment. Contact Julie Wilson, Green Campus coordinator, at 341-4262 or wilsonjulie@mst.edu with your story.
