Recognizing and advising students who may have emotional, behavioral and academic issues can be challenging. The undergraduate advising office is hosting a workshop to help faculty advisors address these issues. "Recognizing and Responding to Students in Distress," is scheduled from 12-1 p.m. Monday, July 28, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center. The workshop will be facilitated by Patti J. Fleck, PhD, counseling and disability support, and Barb Prewett, student affairs.
The workshop will help faculty recognize common "red flags" that indicate a student is distressed, as well provide strategies for dealing with these situations. Available resources to help faculty advisors and their students will also be presented. Lunch will be provided.
Please RSVP to Beth Welter at bethw@mst.edu or call 341-4424 to reserve a seat.
