Faculty participation is vital to welcome new students to campus in August. More than 1,000 new students will be on campus for Opening Week Orientation 2008. Interested faculty will eat lunch and meet with the student mentor groups to discuss faculty expectations and classroom respect. The goal of this activity is to facilitate a positive interaction between the new students and faculty. Faculty can also give the students tips on classroom success.
The faculty interaction with new students will be scheduled Aug. 19-21 during three time slots: 10:45-11:25 a.m.; 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 12:35-1:15 p.m. Faculty may choose to participate one day or all of the days, for any or all time slots. Participants are asked to attend the faculty discussion and planning session scheduled for 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, in the Carver/Turner Room of the Havener Center.
Interested faculty should contact Patty Frisbee in new student programs, 101 University Center, 341-7045 or email pfrisbee@mst.edu.
