The 2007 December Commencement is quickly approaching and once again we will be hosting the semi-annual Graduation Jubilee. The event is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 14, and will be held in the atrium of the Havener Center from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. All UMR faculty and staff, the graduating class and their families and friends, as well as honorary and professional degree recipients and their guests, are invited to attend. The event is a celebration, designed to honor not only the graduates, but also the faculty and staff who have contributed to their successes at UMR. Jubilee exhibitors are currently being sought. Contact Connie Goodridge in the Chancellor’s Office at 341-4114, or email goodridg@umr.edu if you are willing to participate.
This event provides an opportunity to showcase what’s been happening in the life of the graduates while at UMR. Through displays and exhibits, we want to feature student projects and activities and the contribution of the faculty and staff to their success. We would like to offer an opportunity for parents of our graduates to talk with the faculty and staff and hear first-hand about the environment at UMR and how this has impacted the success and achievements of their sons and daughters. That is why we are asking for your help. Whether teaching, advising, or serving the student population in other ways, you are the best source for identifying the excellent projects and activities that go on every day at UMR, both inside and outside of the classroom. Besides identifying these activities, your involvement in their display at the Graduation Jubilee is what will spell success for this event. These graduates will soon become alumni, a primary constituency of our university.
