A webcast training workshop on environmental management systems (EMS) will be offered from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, in the Havener Center. The moderator will be Bob Herbert, director of Virginia Tech’s Local Government EMS Resource Center. Environmental management systems help local governments and other organizations reduce risks and liabilities, improve compliance and environmental performance, and reduce operating costs. To register for the free workshop, which is hosted by the UMR Institute for Environmental Excellence, contact Amy Gillman at 341-7600 or gillman@umr.edu. The registration deadline is Sept. 19.
